Precautions before use.
Before using zithromax it is important that you talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, or any other antibiotic drugs like erythromycin (E-Mycin, Ery-Tab, E.E.S.), troleandomycin (Tao), telithromycin (Ketek), or clarithromycin (Biaxin). This is necessary because the drug contains some inactive ingredients that may result in allergic reactions. You should also not take the drug if you have ever suffered aliments like jaundice, kidney disease, liver disease, a heart rhythm disorder, a history of long QT syndrome, or a muscle disease like myasthenia gravis.
It is also important that you tell your doctor about the other drugs you're taking, since it has been proven to react with drugs like aluminum and magnesium based antacids, e.g. Maalox. This is because they can make azythromycin less effective if they are taken at the same time. Make sure you take the drug for the full prescribed length time even if the symptoms of your ailment had disappeared. Pregnant women should only use azythromycin if it is absolutely necessary. You must tell your doctor about your pregnancy before taking the drug.

Zithromax may be taken with or without food. But if you feel irritations or upset in your stomach, then always make sure you take the medicine with food.
If you missed a dose you can take it as soon as you remember, and continue with your normal zithromax dosage. If you're unclear of how to handle your missed dose, call your doctor or pharmacist for directions.
